Evelyn Spangler
With a lifelong dedication to physical and mental health, I bring a holistic approach to wellness and yoga instruction. My journey began after graduating from Emporia State University in 2008. After briefly studying clinical psychology at Washburn University, I shifted my focus to hands-on patient care, working at TARC aiding families with disabilities, and subsequently serving as a nurse at Cotton O’Neil Clinic for three years.
This background informs my core teaching philosophy: helping people discover their strength while keeping safety and anatomical alignment as the top priority. I believe that understanding the how and why behind sequencing is essential to helping practitioners grow safely.
Currently, I serve as the Wellness Coordinator for staff and faculty at Washburn University, where I support hundreds of clients in achieving their health and fitness goals. A significant portion of my practice involves corporate yoga, where I help practitioners counteract the physical strains of prolonged computer use, such as chest, upper back, and core weakness. I meet individuals exactly where they are in a welcoming, stereotype-free environment, which has made teaching incredibly rewarding.
As an internationally certified yoga therapist and a 900-hour certified yoga instructor, I am deeply committed to lifelong learning. I am currently finalizing my ACE Certification and preparing to begin my master’s degree this fall to further expand my expertise in the health and wellness space.

With 37 years of experience in the corporate sector, I intimately understand the physical and mental demands of a desk-bound career. While navigating the complexities of state and federal regulations, I recognized the toll a sedentary work life takes on the body, particularly with joint issues and degenerative arthritis. Seeking to counter these effects for myself and my long-term colleagues, I began my yoga teaching journey in 2014.
What started as a personal quest for relief quickly evolved into a passion for helping others. Recognizing a need for specialized knowledge, I pursued extensive training, becoming a 500-hour certified Yoga Therapist. Today, I am a 900-hour certified yoga instructor and an internationally certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT).
I am dedicated to offering evidence-based solutions that help professionals improve their physical health, manage stress, and foster stronger, more connected teams. I continue to work in the corporate sector, loving the unique opportunity to help my peers live healthier, more balanced lives.
I love how yoga helps mitigate the physical issues of desk work, how it transforms the office environment, and how people bond and work better together after practicing together. It is truly an honor to be a part of the yoga community in Topeka.
...and, really, the greatest benefit of all? I get to work side-by-side with my daughter.
